Dr. Richard W. Byrne joined Mayo Clinic Florida in April 2024 and serves as the Department Chair for the Department of Neurologic Surgery in Florida. Previously Dr. Byrne served as the Chairman and Medical Director for Rush University's Department of Neurosurgery, a position he held for 18 years. Dr. Byrne has served a leadership role in numerous professional societies, including President of the Neurosurgical Society of America, Director of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, Board of Directors of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Board of Directors of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and President Elect for the Society of Neurological Surgeons.
