Alyx Porter, M.D., is a neurologist with a subspecialty certification in neuro-oncology. She has worked at Mayo Clinic more than a decade, and is highly regarded both as a physician and a leader. Her clinical focuses include: Malignant and benign tumors of the brain and spinal cord; Neurological complications of systemic cancer and cancer treatment including brain metastases.

Dr. Porter is known in her field of neuro-oncology for offering personalized and effective cancer treatment designed to honor people's comfort and lifestyle. She is a firm believer in the value of a holistic caretaking team, and developed a support tool with a colleague that helps patients navigate day-to-day challenges that often come with cancer treatment.

Dr. Porter is the most senior black female adult neuro oncologist in the country, and is passionate about physician workforce diversity. She is a noted philanthropist, having endowed a scholarship at her alma mater, Spelman College and created ElevateMeD, a 501c3, to support the next generation of diverse physician leaders. Dr. Porter also frequently puts her leadership skills to use outside of her role as a neurologist, and has served as the co-chair of the Mayo Clinic Gender Disparities Task Force, and vice chair of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
