Biographical summary
Pei-Wen Lim, M.D., MS-HPEd, is a board-certified surgeon who has completed advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive upper foregut and gastrointestinal surgery. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson University as a medical doctor and completed general surgery residency at University of Massachusetts. She then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at University of Massachusetts before joining their staff as a Clinical Instructor of Surgery. She was then recruited to join Boston Medical Center and Boston University staff as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. While at Boston Medical Center, she also provided surgical services at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center, co-leading their robotic foregut and bariatric surgery program.
Dr. Lim works in close collaboration with a Multidisciplinary Team of physicians to build a comprehensive and individualized plan of care for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease, achalasia, paraesophageal hernias, abdominal wall and inguinal hernias.
Dr. Lim also obtained a Masters in Health Professional Education from Massachusetts General Hospital's Institute of Health Professions. She has extensive experience in teaching and training medical students as well as general surgery residents. Her focus in these regards are on advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Additionally, Dr. Lim serves as an examination consultant to the American Board of Surgery. She is also a committee member on numerous national societies including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and Society of Surgery for the Alimentary Tract (SSAT).
