Biographical summary
Jehad Azar has come a long way to join the Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Division at Mayo Clinic as a Pulmonary Vascular Disease and an Interstitial Lung Disease staff physician. He was born and raised in Nablus, Palestine. Dr. Azar earned his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Thereafter, he finished his Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He also finished sub-specialties in Pulmonary Hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease, at Cleveland Clinic. Prior to his U.S. training, he completed an internship with the Palestinian Ministry of Health and an Internal Medicine Residency in Jerusalem. Dr. Azar has also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in Pulmonary Vascular Disease at Yale School of Medicine, where his primary focus was pulmonary hypertension. His medical interests include pulmonary vascular disease, with a special interest in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary vascular disease, as well as, interstitial lung disease, focusing on connective tissue related interstitial lung, pulmonary sarcoidosis, invasive hemodynamic monitoring including right heart catheterization, and invasive cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing. He is fluent in English, Arabic, and Hebrew.
