Leadership commitment
Mayo Clinic stands united in its strong commitment against racism and in rejecting all discrimination. We are creating a global environment of empowered belonging for everyone, a welcoming culture where all voices and perspectives are encouraged, acknowledged, celebrated and valued.
Mayo Clinic's long-standing commitment against racism dates back to 1912, during the construction of the first Mayo Clinic building. William J. Mayo, M.D., declared, “Within its walls, all classes of people, the poor as well as the rich, without regard to color or creed, shall be cared for without discrimination.”
Today, Mayo Clinic is pledging $100 million over the next 10 years in its commitment against racism to eliminate racism and advance equity and inclusion within Mayo Clinic, and to improve health equity. We will make sure every dollar of this commitment is put to meaningful and actionable use.
