As manager for nursing within Mayo Clinic International, April A. Bursiek, M.S.N., R.N., provides leadership and nursing support to Mayo Clinic Healthcare in London. Ms. Bursiek also supports a variety of global consulting efforts.
Ms. Bursiek has held a variety of leadership roles. Most recently, she was the Magnet program director for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During her time in this role, she helped to lead Mayo Clinic to their sixth Magnet designation. Prior to that, Ms. Bursiek served as a nurse manager for an inpatient surgical unit, a clinical nurse specialist for several outpatient areas and a staff nurse on an inpatient surgical unit.
Ms. Bursiek received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, and a Master of Science in nursing from Winona State University. Ms. Bursiek holds a certification as an advanced practice registered nurse, clinical nurse specialist in adult health. She has an academic appointment as an assistant professor in nursing in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science at Mayo Clinic. Ms. Bursiek is Silver Quality certified through Mayo Clinic’s quality program and a recipient of the Mayo Clinic Excellence in Teamwork award.
She has published and presented nationally and internationally throughout her 25-year nursing career.
