Swathi Eluri, M.D., M.S.C.R., is a board-certified gastroenterologist and Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine Mayo Clinic Florida. Dr. Eluri grew up in North Carolina and received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her Diploma of Doctor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She completed her gastroenterology fellowship training, including an advanced year specializing in esophageal diseases, at the University of North Carolina, where she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine prior to relocating to Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Eluri's primary areas of clinical expertise:

  • Endoscopic treatment of dysplasia in Barrett's esophagus and esophageal carcinoma including endoscopic mucosal resection, radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation
  • Endoscopic surveillance, medical management, and risk stratification of Barrett's esophagus

Dr. Eluri has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and review articles to the medical literature. She is a frequently invited speaker to national and international conferences to talk on the management of Barrett's esophagus. Dr. Eluri's research program is focused on improving screening and surveillance practices in Barrett's esophagus, use of non-endoscopic modalities and use of biomarkers for early detection of Barrett's and esophagus cancer, and implementing patient centered care models to optimize outcomes in Barrett's care.
