Dr. Vargas has over a decade of experience working with metabolic and bariatric endoscopy procedures ranging from clinical trials to patient care. He is an advanced endoscopist active in clinical research involving endoscopic bariatrics, interventional EUS and ERCP procedures in collaboration with his group. Dr. Vargas is one of the few board certified obesity medicine specialists performing endoscopic bariatric procedures at Mayo Clinic. He works in close collaboration with surgeons and endocrinologists. He serves on multiple national-level society committees, has authored multiple chapters and peer reviewed publications in high impact journals within the space of endoscopic bariatrics, pancreatic necrosis, endoscopic management of gallbladder disorders and a number of benign pancreaticobiliary diseases.
