Biographical summary
Joshua Romero, M.D., is a Sports Medicine Specialist with a strong focus on ultrasound-guided interventions and ailments affecting those trying to stay active. He serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Romero earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, NM. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Mayo Clinic, followed by a Sports Medicine fellowship. During his fellowship, he honed his expertise in sports ultrasound and traumatic injuries in sports, provided medical coverage for teams at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels, and played an active role in educating residents. His training also included developing skills as a clinician educator, and he is dedicated to mentoring residents and sports medicine fellows.
After completing his medical training, Dr. Romero further expanded his clinical experience at the Andrew's Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida, the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville campus, and Mass General Brigham in Boston, Massachusetts.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Romero focuses on treating sports and physical activity-related injuries, osteoarthritis, tendinopathy/tendinitis, and performing ultrasound-guided interventions. Alongside his clinical responsibilities, he is also actively engaged in research.
