Biographical summary
Dr. Iyer is the current director of the Mayo Clinic Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Center of Excellence and has been actively involved in the care of HHT patients for more than a decade. He is a strong advocate for advancing therapeutics for patients with severe HHT related bleeding and has considerable experience in the use of bevacizumab and other anti angiogenic agents for this condition. He is active in HHT related research and has participated in multiple clinical trials. He has collaborated both nationally as well as internationally with numerous publications in this area.
Dr. Iyer also serves as the director of the Mayo Chronic Cough Clinic. He has a special interest in chronic refractory cough as well as severe asthma and has been very active in advancing therapeutics for patients with refractory chronic cough. He has been a principal investigator at the Mayo Clinic for multiple trials exploring novel therapeutics for the management of chronic refractory cough. The Mayo Chronic Cough Clinic is one of the busiest cough clinics in the country seeing more than 3000 new patients annually with difficult to treat cough.
Dr. Iyer also sees patients with sarcoidosis and a variety of interstitial lung diseases in the Mayo clinic interstitial lung diseases specialty clinic. This clinic sees a wide variety of patients with severe interstitial lung disease from a multitude of different causes.
