Biographical summary
Wesley Troyer, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine physician who specializes in the non-surgical care of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries. With expertise in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and advanced training in musculoskeletal ultrasound (RMSK certified), Dr. Troyer brings a dynamic, hands-on approach to diagnosing and treating injuries in athletes of all levels.
Dr. Troyer completed his residency at the University of Kentucky, where he served as chief resident, before pursuing a prestigious ACGME-accredited Sports Medicine fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta.
There, he worked closely with athletes from Emory University and Decatur High School and supported medical care for the Atlanta Hawks. He also provided sports medicine coverage for major endurance events — including the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials — and worked with elite athletes through USA Track & Field.
Currently, Dr. Troyer serves as the Associate Program Director of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Fellowship. He has experience as a team physician for the USA Basketball Junior National Teams and is a preferred provider recognized by the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF).
Dr. Troyer has a special interest in soccer medicine, injury-specific rehabilitation, return-to-play strategies, and the use of diagnostic ultrasound to guide precise, image-assisted procedures. He’s
passionate about helping athletes — from weekend warriors to elite professionals — overcome injuries and get back to the sport they love, stronger than before.
Outside the clinic, you’ll find Dr. Troyer staying active himself — playing soccer, snowboarding, or running the beaches of Florida with his wife.
