I've been on staff at the Mayo Clinic since 1997 and my whole career has really been focused on treating cancer. I'm Dr. Steven Alberts. I'm a Medical Oncologist in our Division of Medical Oncology at the Mayo Clinic. My area of specialty is really focused on gastrointestinal cancers.

When I meet with patients who have cancer, it's really important to focus on the person. Each person is different, their cancer is different. And ultimately, when I talk to somebody about the treatment of their cancer, it's really important to have that patient as a partner in making decisions since what we do impacts their life.
