1. A Study to Create a Registry of Non-Fusion Spinal Deformity Correction in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

   The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of non-fusion surgical treatment of Spinal Deformity Correction in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis.

   The Post Approval Study (PAS) is gathering data on the Tether device and it's efficacy and safety.

2. A Study to Assess Outcomes Based on Different Surgical Approaches to Minimally-invasive Gallbladder Surgery

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to compare the outcomes of patients who had standard laparoscopic port placement compared to non-standard port placement to determine any difference in occurrence of post-operative hernia and operative complications.

    

    

    

    

3. Multi-Center Prospective Validation Study of VTE Risk Prediction Tool in Trauma Patients

   Rochester, Minn.

   Almost one-half million people suffer venous thromboembolism annually in the United States, and one-third die from this disease. Massive bleeding from injury accounts for half of early deaths after trauma. This study aims to prevent the deaths and suffering associated with venous thromboembolism and bleeding by identifying the individual person at high risk of these complications in order to take preventive measures.

4. A Study of Noninvasive Hemoglobin Monitoring in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Orthopedic Surgery

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purposes of this study are to validate noninvasive hemoglobin monitoring in postoperative orthopedic pediatric patients, to evaluate patient, parent, and provider preference of noninvasive hemoglobin monitoring compared to invasive blood draw, and to evaluate cost effectiveness of noninvasive monitoring in comparison to invasive blood draws.

   The purpose of this study is to understand how electrical stimulation of the brain can modulate and suppress interictal epileptiform activity as a step on the path to developing new therapies for epilepsy.

6. A Study to Assess Cisplatin and Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Children and Young Adults with Hepatoblastoma or Liver Cancer After Surgery

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine how well cisplatin and combination chemotherapy works in treating children and young adults with hepatoblastoma or liver cancer after surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, doxorubicin, fluorouracil, vincristine sulfate, carboplatin, etoposide, irinotecan, sorafenib, gemcitabine and oxaliplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving combination chemotherapy after surgery may kill more tumor cells.

   The purpose of this study is to evaluate how children and young adults perceive their midline sternotomy scars (in terms of appearance, associated symptoms, consciousness, satisfaction with appearance/symptoms, and impact on quality of life)? 

8. A Study to Evaluate Time to First Movement for Fetal Surgery Patients Injected with Intramuscular Anesthesia

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine the time from intramuscular injection to the time of first fetal movement after a fetal surgery procedure.

   The aim of this study is to better identify trends in trainee remediation and outcome in a large quaternary care academic institution, in an effort to improve the success of these efforts.
    

10. Artisan Aphakia Lens for the Correction of Aphakia in Children

    To determine the effectiveness of the ARTISAN Aphakia lens in the treatment of aphakia and to precisely define the associated risks and, if possible, identify particular groups of patients who may be at high risk of developing complications resulting from the surgical procedure of implanting an ARTISAN Aphakia lens.
