Chemotherapy Alone or Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients with Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer Undergoing Surgery Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer involves chemotherapy and radiation, known as 5FUCMT, (the chemotherapy drugs 5-fluorouracil/capecitabine and radiation therapy) prior to surgery. Although radiation therapy to the pelvis has been a standard and important part of treatment for rectal cancer and has been shown to decrease the risk of the cancer coming back in the same area in the pelvis, some patients experience undesirable side effects from the radiation and there have been important advances in chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation which may be of benefit. The purpose of this study is to compare the effects, both good and bad, of the standard treatment of chemotherapy and radiation to chemotherapy using a combination regimen known as FOLFOX, (the drugs 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), oxaliplatin and leucovorin) and selective use of the standard treatment, depending on response to the FOLFOX. The drugs in the FOLFOX regimen are all FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved and have been used routinely to treat patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Cystic Kidney and Liver Disease Biobank Rochester, Minn. This research study is being done to create a collection of biospecimens (blood, urine, cyst fluid, bile, kidney or liver tissue, etc.) that can be used to facilitate the conduction of research on polycystic kidney and/or liver disease. A Study to Evaluate Voice-enabled Artificial Intelligence to Diagnosis Hepatic Encephalopathy Rochester, Minn. early detection of hepatic encephalopathy Comparing Capecitabine and Temozolomide in Combination to Lutetium Lu 177 Dotatate in Patients With Advanced Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to compare capecitabine and temozolomide to lutetium Lu 177 dotatate for the treatment of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors that have spread to other parts of the body (advanced) or are not able to be removed by surgery (unresectable). Chemotherapy drugs, such as capecitabine and temozolomide, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Radioactive drugs, such as lutetium Lu 177 dotatate, may carry radiation directly to tumor cells and may reduce harm to normal cells. The purpose of this study is to find out whether capecitabine and temozolomide or lutetium Lu 177 dotatate may kill more tumor cells in patients with advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. Biobank for Cholestatic Liver Diseases Rochester, Minn. This study is a biobank of specimens and clinical data for use in current and future research to better understand the cholestatic liver diseases primary biliary cirrhosis/cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). SULF1 and SULF2 Role in Cholangiocarcinoma Rochester, Minn. Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) has key similarities with HCC, therefore, we hypothesize that Sulf1 and Sulf2 may also play roles in promotion of CCA progression. A Study to Evaluate Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy to Treat Patients with Pancreatic Cancer and Peritoneal Metastasis Rochester, Minn. The primary purpose of this study is to assess short-term morbidity and disease-free survival outcomes for patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma with limited low volume peritoneal metastasis or positive peritoneal cytology undergoing hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Celiac Disease Registry Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to develop a resource (bank) of biospecimens (blood, tissue, stool) and data collected from individuals with known or suspected gluten enteropathy, including celiac disease (CD) and dermatitis herpetiformis (DH). Other enteropathies will also be included: collagenous sprue, idiopathic sprue, lymphocytic enterocolitis, idiopathic enteropathies, collagenous gastritis, Whipple’s disease, and other miscellaneous inflammatory disorders of the small intestine. This resource will be invaluable in answering the important questions outlined above and other future unanswered questions. A Study to Evaluate the Response of Dietary Therapy in Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to investigate the response rate of dietary therapy in patients with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) and determine rates of long-term compliance with the food elimination diets (SFED, FFED, step-up), and also to identify patient, clinical, and endoscopic factors that may be associated with increased rates of success in patients undergoing dietary therapy in EoE. A Study to Evaluate the Effects of Ondansetron on Gastrointestinal Sensorimotor Dysfunctions in Diabetes Mellitus and Dyspepsia Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to understand why patients with indigestion, with or without diabetes, have gastrointestinal symptoms and, in particular, to understand where the symptoms are related to increased sensitivity to nutrients.Subsequently, look at the effects of Ondansetron on these patients' symptoms. Digestive Diseases clinical-trials
