Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bleeding from the rectum
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloody eye
  5. bloody nose
  6. bloody or cloudy urine
  7. blurred vision or any other change in vision
  8. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  9. burning, dry or itching eyes
  10. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  11. coughing or spitting up blood
  12. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  13. difficulty breathing or swallowing
  14. discharge, excessive tearing
  15. dizziness
  16. dry eyes
  17. eye redness, irritation, or pain
  18. frequent urge to urinate
  19. headache
  20. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  21. increased sensitivity to pain
  22. increased sensitivity to touch
  23. lower back or side pain
  24. nerve pain
  25. nosebleeds
  26. painful irritation of the clear front part of the eye
  27. paralysis
  28. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  29. red or black, tarry stools
  30. red or dark brown urine
  31. redness, pain, swelling of eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  32. redness of the white part of eyes or inside of the eyelids
  33. tingling in the hands and feet
  34. trouble breathing
  35. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  36. walking in unusual manner
  37. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. chest pain
  3. chills
  4. dizziness or lightheadedness
  5. fainting
  6. fast heartbeat
  7. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  8. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over the affected area
  9. thickening of bronchial secretions

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. diarrhea
  3. joint or muscle pain
  4. red irritated eyes
  5. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  6. sore throat
  7. sores, ulcers, white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  8. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Arm or leg pain
  2. constipation
  3. decreased appetite
  4. decreased weight
  5. difficulty in moving
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. loss or thinning of the hair
  8. muscle or bone pain
  9. stomach pain or cramps
  10. vomiting
