Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. indigestion
  3. loss of appetite
  4. nausea
  5. passing of gas
  6. stomach pain, fullness, or discomfort
  7. swelling
  8. vomiting

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blood in vomit
  3. constipation
  4. dizziness
  5. headache

Rare

  1. Back or leg pain
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. bloating
  5. bloody nose
  6. bloody urine or stools
  7. blurred vision
  8. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles" , or tingling feelings
  9. change in vision
  10. chills
  11. cough or hoarseness
  12. dark urine
  13. decreased amount of urine
  14. discouragement
  15. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  16. feeling of discomfort
  17. feeling sad or empty
  18. fever
  19. general body welling
  20. heavier menstrual periods
  21. increased blood pressure
  22. increased thirst
  23. increased urge to urinate during the night
  24. inflammation of the joints
  25. irritability
  26. itching
  27. joint or muscle pain
  28. loss of appetite
  29. loss of interest or pleasure
  30. lower back or side pain
  31. painful or difficult urination
  32. pale skin
  33. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  34. red, irritated eyes
  35. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  36. sore throat
  37. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth
  38. stomach cramps or tenderness
  39. swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs
  40. swollen glands
  41. trouble breathing
  42. trouble concentrating
  43. trouble sleeping
  44. unusual bleeding or bruising
  45. unusual tiredness or weakness
  46. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  47. waking to urinate at night
  48. watery or bloody diarrhea
  49. weight gain
  50. yellowing of the eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in ears
  2. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  3. full feeling
  4. hearing loss
  5. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  6. weight loss

Rare

  1. Bad unusual or unpleasant (after) taste
  2. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  3. change in taste
  4. decreased vision
  5. discharge, excessive tearing
  6. hair loss
  7. pain in the ankles or knees
  8. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  9. redness, pain, swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of eyelid
  10. reversible loss of color vision
  11. sensitivity to light
  12. temporary loss of vision
  13. throbbing pain
