Randa Tao, M.D.

Randa Tao, M.D., is an Associate Professor at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and the Associate Program Director of the radiation oncology residency at Mayo Clinic Arizona. Dr. Tao earned her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed a Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health Research Scholar Program. She completed her radiation oncology residency training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where she won several awards for research and outstanding clinical care. She was on faculty at the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute where she was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure and currently holds an adjunct position. Dr. Tao is an internationally recognized expert in radiation oncology. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications including first and senior-authored papers in prestigious journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology, Molecular Cell, Radiotherapy & Oncology, Cancer, Annals of Surgical Oncology, and International Journal of Radiation Oncology·Biology·Physics, for which she serves on the editorial board. Dr. Tao was a panel member on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Hodgkin Lymphoma Guidelines, serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Radiology (ABR), develops the clinical radiation oncology ABR written boards, and is a member of several national and international committees. Her research interests include biomarkers of therapy response, evaluating advanced applications of radiation therapy for hematologic and gastrointestinal malignancies, mental health in cancer survivors, and Asian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander cancer patient outcomes.
