Biographical summary
Daniel Hyun Kyu Rhee, M.D., is a Senior Associate Consultant in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic Arizona.
Dr. Rhee's first career was in architecture. He obtained an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and then worked in Kansas City for a firm that specializes in stadium design. A developing interest in health equity and global health efforts led him to pursue a career in medicine, and after completing his pre-medical requirements at Northwestern University, received his medical degree from Ben Gurion University in Israel. He went on to complete General Surgery residency at Mayo Clinic Arizona, where his interest in the reconstructive care of cancer patients led him to pursue additional training in plastic surgery at the University of Colorado. He then completed a microsurgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins, and then returned to Mayo Clinic Arizona in 2023.
His clinical focuses include breast reconstruction, lymphatic surgery, and limb salvage — all of which benefit from the multidisciplinary approach at the Mayo Clinic. He is passionate about promoting a culture of collaboration in the care of his patients.
