Biographical summary
Pedro Reck dos Santos, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, with specialty interests in the management of patients with end/stage lung diseases, including lung transplantation, ECMO and lung volume reduction surgery, and also in thoracic oncology and airway surgery.
Dr. Reck dos Santos was trained in Brazil, and then completed advanced training in research, general thoracic surgery and lung transplantation at the University of Toronto.
His clinical focus includes:
- Lung Transplantation
- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
- Lung Volume Reduction Surgery
- Thoracic Oncology, with a special interest in the surgical management of lung metastasis
- Tracheal surgery
His research interests are related to lung perfusion systems (ex vivo and in vivo Lung perfusion), donation after circulatory death, ablation therapies for the management of chest malignancies and outcomes research. Dr. Reck dos Santos is actively involved in research projects with a special focus on mentoring residents and students.
