Biographical summary
Luis Porrata, M.D., is a professor of medicine and deputy director of the Mayo Blood and Marrow Program at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York and completed his residency and fellowship in internal medicine, hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant at Mayo Clinic. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology, and holds teaching privileges in clinical and translational science at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Porrata's main clinical and research interests are focused on the use of emerging immunotherapeutics for the treatment of malignant diseases in the autologous stem cell transplant setting, and he has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles on this topic. He has received several honors and awards, including the Young Investigator Award by Goldman Philanthropic Partnerships and the Department of Medicine Laureate Award by Mayo Clinic Department of Medicine. He is also a member of various professional societies and serves as an editorial board member or reviewer for several journals in the field of hematology and oncology.
