Samuel I. Garcia, M.D.

Dr. Garcia is a board-certified intensivist and emergency medicine physician with expertise in airway management, advanced critical care echocardiography, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He currently serves as a faculty member in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, MN.

He completed his medical education and emergency medicine training in the United States before pursuing a specialized fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Mayo Clinic, where he also served as Chief Fellow. During his fellowship, Dr. Garcia was honored with the Edward C. Rosenow, III Outstanding Trainee Teaching Award and the Angela and Anne V. Marinelli Endowed Fellowship Award, which recognized his excellence in teaching, patient care, and clinical judgment.

Dr. Garcia’s clinical practice focuses on managing critically ill patients, with a particular focus on advanced airway management techniques and the integration of resuscitative point-of-care ultrasonography in critical care settings. His research interests include improving patient outcomes during emergent endotracheal intubation, enhancing extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and advancing educational strategies through multidisciplinary collaboration.

In addition to his clinical and research roles, Dr. Garcia is passionately committed to medical education. He leads initiatives to enhance the training and educational experience for residents and fellows at Mayo Clinic, fostering the development of the next generation of physicians.
