Biographical summary
Kirsten Frederiksen, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.P., F.O.M.A., D.A.B.O.M., is an Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine specialist with over two decades of experience in clinical care. She completed medical school at the
University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York, where she was elected to the AOA Medical Honor Society and received the Janet M.Glasgow Memorial Achievement Award from the American Medical Women Association and holds a Master’s in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University. Dr. Frederiksen has served as founder and program director for obesity medicine services at 2
large health systems and as Director of Clinical Operations at a national all virtual obesity medicine practice, overseeing a large clinical staff and management. She has served as a consultant to several national start up medical practices, is Chair of the Bariatric Medical-Surgical Committee and Co-Director of Clinical Education for the Obesity Medicine Association.
Published work and lectures have included gene therapy for autoimmune disease, financing of health care, validation scales, standards of obesity care, optimizing combined medical and procedural obesity
care, and nutrition of the pre- and post-bariatric surgery patient. In her current role as Medical Director of the Bariatric Center, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Dr. Frederiksen’s focus is on continuing to build a widely recognized, state of the art, comprehensive and collaborative obesity care program including expanding on related research and education.
