Biographical summary
Dr. Chascsa is a board-certified gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist who has additional board certification in obesity medicine. He is an assistant professor of medicine and serves as the transplant hepatology fellowship program director.
He is a native of Arizona. After achieving his doctorate at Georgetown University School of Medicine, he completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado. He pursued general gastroenterology training at the University of Maryland and National Institutes of Health. Dr. Chascsa returned to Arizona to complete his transplant hepatology subspecialty training at Mayo Clinic Arizona.
His clinical interests include the management of overweight and obesity in patients with fatty liver disease including in patients being considered for or having undergone liver transplantation. Dr. Chascsa's clinic includes nutrition support for weight loss, and use of medical therapies for management of fatty liver including the use of approved weight loss medications.
Dr. Chascsa has a special interest in liver disease related to congenital heart disease (Fontan). He works closely with the congenital heart disease team at Phoenix Children's Hospital and helps patients with their transition from pediatric to adult hepatology working closely with the adult congenital heart team at Mayo Clinic.
His research endeavors have been aimed at increasing access to liver transplantation.
