Annetta M. Madsen, M.D., is a fellowship trained Urogynecologist, specializing in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. She is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS). Her philosophy of care involves a shared decision-making model, where a person's individual values and goals guide the treatment plan. Her care plan often involves multidisciplinary collaboration to help people meet their goals.

Dr. Madsen performs surgery from vaginal, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches. Her clinical expertise includes surgical treatment of:

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) — uterine and vaginal prolapse, cystocele, rectocele
  • Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) — synthetic and fascial slings, urethral bulking, Burch urethropexy
  • Childbirth-related pelvic floor disorders — vaginal, vulvar and anal sphincter injury
  • Fistula — Between urinary tract or rectum and uterus or vagina
  • Female circumcision — Revision or release of scar tissue, de-infibulation, cyst removal
  • Vaginal and vulvar cysts — Urethral diverticulum, paraurethral cysts, vaginal and labial cysts
  • Mesh and other surgical complications
  • Refractory Overactive Bladder (rOAB) — Botox injection, Sacral neuromodulation
  • Dysfunctional/abnormal uterine bleeding — minimally invasive hysterectomy

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Madsen is active in research and education. Her research interests include: pelvic floor disorders related to pregnancy and childbirth injury, female pelvic anatomy, innovative solutions for vaginal and vulvar reconstruction, quality improvement.
