Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. changes in skin color
  3. dry mouth
  4. flushed, dry skin
  5. fruit-like breath odor
  6. increased hunger
  7. increased thirst
  8. increased urination
  9. nausea
  10. pain, tenderness, or swelling of the foot or leg
  11. stomach pain
  12. sweating
  13. trouble breathing
  14. unexplained weight loss
  15. unusual tiredness or weakness
  16. vomiting

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. pain or discomfort in the legs, groin, or chest
  3. swelling and redness in the lower leg

Rare

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. chills
  5. clay-colored stools
  6. dizziness
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. itching, rash
  10. loss of appetite
  11. painful or difficult urination
  12. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  13. sores throat
  14. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  15. swollen glands
  16. right upper abdominal or stomach pain and fullness
  17. unpleasant breath odor
  18. unusual bleeding or bruising
  19. vomiting of blood
  20. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  2. chest tightness
  3. confusion
  4. cough or hoarseness
  5. difficulty in breathing or swallowing
  6. drowsiness
  7. fast heartbeat
  8. lower back or side pain
  9. muscle tremors
  10. restlessness
  11. stomach cramps
  12. swelling of the face, throat, or tongue

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Dry, red, hot, or irritated skin
  2. feeling of warmth
  3. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
  4. sleepiness

Rare

  1. Redness, swelling, or pain at the injection site

Incidence not known

  1. Diarrhea
