Geoffrey R. Smith, II, M.D.

Geoffrey (Geoff) Smith, M.D., is a Senior Associate Consultant in the Neurological Rehabilitation Division of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). Dr. Smith serves as the Medical Director for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and supports the Spinal Cord Injury, Spasticity, Neurologic Disease, and Musculoskeletal practices.

Dr. Smith attended medical school at The Ohio State University, where he also completed his Preliminary Medicine Internship. He then completed his PM&R residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he served as Chief Resident. Following residency, he completed a Spinal Cord Injury Medicine fellowship through Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the PM&R Department at the University of Virginia in 2011 where he served as Medical Director of Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation. In 2023, Dr. Smith returned to Mayo Clinic in his current role.
