Biographical summary
James Paget, B.M. B.Ch., Ph.D., is a U.S. fellowship-trained Plastic surgeon with expertise in reconstruction after cancer.
He attended medical school in Cambridge University and Oxford University in the United Kingdom and received his Ph.D in gene therapy and radiation biology from the Institute of Cancer Research, London. Dr. Paget undertook his plastic surgery residency in Scotland. He completed his UK Consultant requirements before finishing his training with a microsurgery fellowship in cancer reconstruction at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Paget's clinical practice focuses on reconstructing patients after cancer, aiming to improve their quality of life in survivorship through the restoration of form and function. This includes breast reconstruction, complex reconstruction after abdominal or extremity surgery, head and neck reconstruction, and surgical treatments for lymphedema including the use of supermicrosurgical techniques and vascularized lymph node transfers. He also has a research interest in helping to identify and develop new treatments for patients who suffer from delayed problems after radiotherapy.
