Biographical summary
Ivana Micallef, M.D., is a consultant, associate professor, and section head in the Division of Hematology at Mayo Clinic. She has a medical degree from the University of British Columbia, Canada, where she also completed her residency and fellowship training. She also did fellowships in hematologic malignancies and blood and marrow transplantation at the British Columbia Cancer Agency and St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London, UK. She is board certified in internal medicine and hematology in both the US and Canada, and has a certification from the Mayo Clinic Quality Academy.
Dr. Micallef has received several awards for her clinical and research work, including the Laureate Award from the Mayo Clinic Department of Medicine and the Best Abstract Award from the Blood Marrow Transplant Tandem. She has been involved in various clinical trials and research projects on stem cell transplantation, lymphoma, and stem cell mobilization, and has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals. She has also been an active teacher and mentor for medical students, residents, and fellows, and has served on several institutional and national committees related to hematology and transplantation.
