Amit K. Mathur, M.D.

Amit K. Mathur, M.D., is a transplant, hepatobiliary, and pancreas surgeon and Professor of Surgery. He serves as the Surgical Director for the Liver Transplant program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.

Areas of clinical expertise include:

• Adult liver transplantation
• Kidney and pancreas transplantation
• Living-donor liver transplantation
• Living-donor kidney transplantation
• Surgery of the liver, bile duct and pancreas for benign and malignant conditions

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mathur has expertise in clinical outcomes and health services research. His research focuses on improving access to transplant, health disparities, clinical outcomes and health care delivery in end organ failure and transplantation, transplant policy, finance, and regulatory issues, as well as transplant oncology and organ perfusion.

Dr. Mathur is passionate about his service to the field of organ transplantation. He has served in leadership positions in several organizations including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, the Organ Donation and Transplant Alliance, American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, and others. He is a member of the editorial board of "Liver Transplantation" and is an invited reviewer for multiple surgical and transplant journals. He is also actively engaged in teaching and mentoring students, residents and fellows.
