Erick M. Marigi, M.D., is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in the management of shoulder, knee, and sports-related injuries at the Mayo Clinic in Florida. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) degree at the University of Minnesota and received his orthopedic surgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He then completed a specialized shoulder and sports medicine fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where he also provided care for the Brooklyn Nets and the New York Red Bulls.

His practice encompasses patients of all ages and activity levels ranging from recreational competition to professional level sports. In the shoulder, Dr. Marigi is an expert in the entire spectrum of shoulder conditions including labral tears, rotator cuff tears, and shoulder arthritis. In the knee, he is a specialist in knee preservation and the treatment of athletic knee injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament tears, meniscus tears, and cartilage injuries.

He has also presented more than 115 academic shoulder and sports papers at conferences both nationally and internationally. Currently, he continues to serve as a principal investigator leading multiple research efforts aimed to provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based, and patient-centered treatment plans possible.

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Marigi strongly believes in collaboration and the advancement of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine through research, education, and leadership. He serves as a research collaborator within the Orthopedic Surgery Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (OSAIL) at the Mayo Clinic, an interdisciplinary lab utilizing machine learning to investigate real-world clinical and research problems. This has led to ongoing development and evaluation of new technologies in shoulder replacement surgery. He is also continuously involved in clinical teaching and mentorship to medical students, residents, and visiting fellows. Finally, he is an active member in several specialty organizations at the local, national, and international level.
