Isabel O. Cortopassi, M.D.

Isabel Cortopassi, M.D., is a cardiothoracic radiologist specialized in imaging of the heart and lungs. She completed Internal Medicine Residency in Recife-PE/Brazil followed by Diagnostic Radiology Residency at InCor/HC-USP in Sao Paulo/Brazil. She completed her US based Radiology training at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, in Boston, MA. After graduating she joined the cardiothoracic imaging section in the department of Diagnostic Radiology at Yale University as an Assistant Professor. Subsequently Dr. Cortopassi was promoted to Associate Professor and became the chief of thoracic section at Yale. Dr Cortopassi joined the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville in 2021.

Dr. Cortopassi interpretates radiographs, CT, and MRI of the full spectrum of pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases. Her research interests include interstitial lung disease, diseases of the right ventricle, thoracic vascular diseases such as pulmonary embolism and aortic pathology, and quality and safety.

She has a strong interest in medical education and has served as an Associate Radiology Residency Program Director at Yale. She has been recognized for her teaching efforts 4 times with Teacher of the Year awards at previous institutions. She has spoken at several national and international meetings and is active in many national radiology organizations. Among other service roles, she currently serves on the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria Vascular committee and serves as the head of the American Board of Radiology cardiac certifying committee.

Dr. Cortopassi is Board-certified by the American Board of Radiology and Radiology.
