Biographical summary
Dalliah Mashon Black, M.D., is a fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist. She is committed to providing quality, compassionate care tailored for each individual. To deliver the best possible outcomes, she values establishing a trusting patient-physician relationship and being an integral part of an expert multi-disciplinary team.
Special interests include:
- evaluating and improving disparities in breast cancer care
- advancing breast surgical techniques
- determining financial toxicity of cancer treatment
- improving global breast cancer care in low-resource countries
Dr. Black earned her medical degree from The University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. She completed general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill and the breast surgical oncology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Black serves as the DEIA liaison for the Breast Disease Working Group in the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has served on the board of
directors and as a medical advisor for several nonprofit breast cancer organizations. She has worked internationally to improve breast cancer care for women in low-resource countries and improve
education and training for health care professionals. Her work has resulted in national and international presentations. She takes great pride in advancing breast cancer care both locally and abroad.
