Dalliah Mashon Black, M.D., is a fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist dedicated to delivering personalized, compassionate care for every patient. She believes that the foundation of exceptional outcomes begins with trust and building strong patient-physician relationships while working seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams to ensure every individual receives the highest level of care.

Dr. Black's approach combines advancing surgical techniques with clinical research and a deep commitment to equity and patient centered care. Her clinical focus includes:

  • Breast cancer surgery: Comprehensive surgical care for patients with breast cancer, tailored to individual needs and treatment goals.
  • Differences in breast cancer outcomes: Evaluating tumor biologic differences and how to optimize treatment and outcomes for all patients.
  • Global breast cancer care: Advancing education and improving treatment in low-resource countries to reduce global disparities.

Research and Leadership

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Black is actively engaged in research aimed at improving breast cancer care worldwide.Her work explores differences in tumor biology and disparities in treatment and outcomes along with strategies to enhance care delivery in resource-limited settings.She serves as the Belonging liaison for the Breast Disease Working Group within the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center and is the Associate Chair of Belonging and Well-being for the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Black earned her medical degree from The University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, completed her general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, and pursued fellowship training in breast surgical oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Her dedication to advancing breast cancer care has led to national and international presentations, board service for nonprofit organizations, and global initiatives to improve education and training for healthcare professionals.
