Thomas F. Bergquist, Ph.D., ABPP, translates clinical research directly into clinical care to improve the lives of patients and their families.
His focus areas include:
- Rehabilitation following brain injury, including coping with disabilities.
- Psychotherapeutic interventions to enhance mood and coping in persons with acquired brain injury.
- Group interventions to enhance coping and resilience in persons with acquired brain injury and their family members.
- Telerehabilitation.
- Understanding the rehabilitation needs of persons with acquired brain injury from underserved and marginalized populations.
- Rehabilitation of persons with COVID-19.
Dr. Bergquist is a co-director of the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research-funded Mayo Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System Center. This system uses a team-based approach to improve treatments and outcomes for people affected by TBI and their families.
