Clinical trials Below are current clinical trials.115 studies in Surgery (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. A Study to Evaluate Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Reducing Anastomotic Stenosis Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is evaluate the safety of allogeneic adipose derived mesenchymal stem cell (AMSC) use during hemodialysis arteriovenous fistula and arterial bypass creation and its effectiveness on improving access maturation and primary anastomotic patency. A Study to Evaluate the Impact of Non-invasive Tests for Bladder Cancer Rochester, Minn. Levels of bladder cancer-derived extracellular vesicles become undetectable after radical cystectomy in patients with localized bladder cancer. This study hopes to determine the levels of bladder cancer-derived extracellular vesicles pre- and post-RC. Study of Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Female Patients with Benign Breast Disease Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to to bring molecular risk prediction for breast cancer into the clinical arena through: the establishment of a large tissue repository from a retrospective cohort of women with benign breast disease with complete and long-term clinical follow-up to identify those who developed breast cancer (cases) and those who did not (controls); the application of potential biomarkers of risk to this archival tissue set; and, the discovery of new, potentially relevant biomarkers of risk in fresh and frozen specimens of benign breast disease. CT Angiography of the Aorta following Fenestrated Branched Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (F-BEVAR) using Tube Potential Selection and Weight-based Method: Effects on Image Quality and Radiation Dose Rochester, Minn. The objective of this study is to evaluate the image quality and radiation dose of a CT angiography protocol (CTA) using tube potential selection and weight-based method. Impact of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy on the Peripheral Blood Immune Phenotype in Operable Breast Cancer, the ENHANCE Study Rochester, Minn. The purposes of this study are to evaluate whether pre-NAC peripheral blood immune phenotypes (defined by mass cytometry) are associated with pathologic complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with operable breast cancer, and to evaluate whether the baseline peripheral blood immune phenotype differs between patients with breast cancer and age-matched healthy controls. A Study to Establish a Pediatric Spine Registry Rochester, Minn., Minneapolis, Minn. The purpose of this study is to collect data about patients with chest wall and spinal deformities to develop a multicenter registry. This will speed the pace of medical advancement and treatment recommendations for these conditions. Trans-Pacific Multicenter Collaborative Study of Minimally Invasive Proximal Versus Total Gastrectomy for Proximal Gastric and Gastroesophageal Junction Cancers Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to compare the symptoms of patients who have a MIPG to the symptoms of patients who have a MITG. Detection of Plasma DNA Methylation in Peripheral Blood from Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma Rochester, Minn. This study aims to investigate the utility of using plasma DNA methylation to detect measurable residual disease or early recurrence/progression of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Study to Validate the Use of a Lymphatic Imaging Protocol to Stage Disease Severity in Patients with Lymphedema Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to validate the use of a lymphatic imaging protocol to stage disease severity in patients with lymphedema and serve as a biomarker for microsurgical treatment response. A Study to Evaluate Progenitor Cells for Patients with Degenerative Lung Disease Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to use a patient's own cells to fabricate a recellularized scaffold to repopulate the lung and restore function that could offer a solution for patients with degenerative lung disease. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
