Clinical trials Mayo Clinic advances the science and practice of breast and melanoma surgical care with innovative therapies, new techniques and clinical trials. A Study to Evaluate the da Vinci® Xi™ Surgical System in Nipple Sparing Mastectomy (NSM) Procedures Read about ongoing breast surgery- and melanoma surgery-related clinical trials at Mayo Clinic. Below are current clinical trials.23 studies in Breast and Melanoma Surgical Oncology in Rochester (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. Tebentafusp Regimen Versus Investigator's Choice in Previously Treated Advanced Melanoma (TEBE-AM) Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of tebentafusp-based regimens tebentafusp monotherapy and in combination with anti-PD1) vs investigator choice (including clinical trials of investigational agents, salvage therapy per local standard of care (SoC), best supportive care (BSC)) on protocol survivor follow up) in patients with advanced non-ocular melanoma. A Study to Evaluate the Safety of the Goldilocks Procedure with Implant-Based Reconstruction Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to assess outcomes, satisfaction and aesthetics of two different breast reconstruction techniques (Goldilocks alone, and Goldilocks with Implant-Based Reconstruction) and compare its safety, patient satisfaction, aesthetic evaluation and complications. A Study to Evaluate Abemaciclib for Surgically Resectable, Chemotherapy-Resistant, Triple Negative Breast Cancer Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Jacksonville, Fla. The primary purpose of this study is to examine the effects of abemaciclib on the CD8/FOXP3 ratio in chemotherapy-resistant triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients following neoadjuvant chemotherapy. A Study to Evaluate Radiotherapy to the Whole Breast or Post-mastectomy Chest Wall Including Regional Nodal Irradiation Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety of 5 fraction vs. 25 fraction radiation to the whole breast or post-mastectomy chest wall/reconstructed chest with regional nodal radiation. 3D Ultrasound Imaging for Breast Cancer Diagnosis Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveess of a new 3D ultrasound imaging technology combining B-mode, microvessel imaging, shear wave elastography, and machine learning for breast lesion diagnosis. BiCaZO: A Study Combining Two Immunotherapies (Cabozantinib and Nivolumab) to Treat Patients With Advanced Melanoma or Squamous Cell Head and Neck Cancer, an immunoMATCH Pilot Study Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of molecular characterization based on tumor mutational burden (TMB) for participant stratification, as assessed by the proportion of participants with less than or equal to a 21-day turnaround time for biopsy results in Stage I of the study. Also, to evaluate the feasibility of molecular characterization based on TMB and gene expression profiling (GEP) (for TIS - tumor inflammation signature) for stratification in the overall study (Stage I and Stage II). Additinoally, to evaluate the effectiveness by overall response rate (ORR – defined as confirmed and unconfirmed partial responses plus complete responses) of cabozantinib plus nivolumab in each disease cohort, both across and within tumor biomarker subgroups. Impact of Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy on the Peripheral Blood Immune Phenotype in Operable Breast Cancer, the ENHANCE Study Rochester, Minn. The purposes of this study are to evaluate whether pre-NAC peripheral blood immune phenotypes (defined by mass cytometry) are associated with pathologic complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with operable breast cancer, and to evaluate whether the baseline peripheral blood immune phenotype differs between patients with breast cancer and age-matched healthy controls. In-home Versus In-Clinic Subcutaneous Nivolumab Administration through Connected and Remote Cancer CARE Beyond Walls Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of the location of SQ Nivo administration, at the infusion center or in the home, on patient preference and acceptability, safety, patient reported outcomes (PROs), and clinical outcomes. MelmarT Melanoma Margins Trial Investigating 1cm v 2cm Wide Excision Margins for Primary Cutaneous Melanoma (MelMarT) Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to determine differences in the rate of local recurrence and melanoma specific survival. A reduction in margins is expected to improve quality of life to back up evidence that less radical margins of excision may be just as safe. A Study of the Ability to Predict Lymphedema Development Following Axillary Surgery for Breast Cancer and Its Effects on Patient Survivorship Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to better understand the anatomy of the lymphatic structure and the molecular process that leads to the over production of lymph fluid. This proposal will begin intense lymphedema screening and identify baseline characteristics potentially predisposing someone to lymphedema, and identify molecular markers that might be altered to prevent lymphedema. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
