Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. body aches or pain
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. dizziness
  6. ear congestion
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. loss of voice
  10. muscle aches
  11. nervousness
  12. pounding in the ears
  13. slow or fast heartbeat
  14. sneezing
  15. sore throat
  16. stuffy or runny nose
  17. trouble breathing
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. chest pain or tightness
  4. constipation
  5. cough producing mucus
  6. depressed mood
  7. dry skin and hair
  8. feeling cold
  9. hair loss
  10. hoarseness or husky voice
  11. muscle cramps and stiffness
  12. painful or difficult urination
  13. rapid weight gain
  14. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  15. swollen glands
  16. tingling of the hands or feet
  17. unusual bleeding or bruising
  18. unusual weight gain or loss

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. clay-colored stools
  5. confusion
  6. coughing or spitting up blood
  7. dark urine
  8. diarrhea
  9. difficulty controlling your bladder or bowels
  10. difficulty swallowing
  11. difficulty walking
  12. fainting
  13. feeling sad
  14. forgetfulness
  15. hives, itching, skin rash
  16. indigestion
  17. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  18. joint or muscle pain
  19. lightheadedness
  20. loss of appetite
  21. lower back or side pain
  22. nausea
  23. night sweats
  24. numbness or tingling in your arms, legs, or face
  25. painful blisters on the trunk of your body
  26. pains in stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  27. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  28. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  29. red irritated eyes
  30. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  31. slurred speech
  32. stomach pain or tenderness
  33. sudden high fever or low-grade fever for months
  34. unpleasant breath odor
  35. vomiting
  36. vomiting of blood
  37. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Facial swelling

Less common

  1. Burning, dry, or itching eyes
  2. eye discharge, excessive tearing
  3. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  4. redness, pain, swelling of eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  5. stomach bloating, burning, or cramping
  6. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
