Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bladder pain
  4. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  5. bloody nose
  6. bloody or cloudy urine
  7. blurred vision
  8. body aches or pain
  9. chest pain or tightness
  10. chills
  11. clay-colored stools
  12. confusion
  13. cough
  14. cough producing mucus
  15. dark urine
  16. decreased urination
  17. decreased weight
  18. difficult or labored breathing
  19. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  20. difficulty with breathing
  21. dizziness or lightheadedness
  22. dry mouth
  23. ear congestion
  24. fainting
  25. frequent urge to urinate
  26. headache
  27. hives
  28. hoarseness
  29. increase in heart rate
  30. increased sweating
  31. irritation
  32. itching
  33. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  34. loss of appetite
  35. loss of voice
  36. lower back or side pain
  37. nausea
  38. nervousness
  39. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  40. pale skin
  41. pounding in the ears
  42. rapid breathing
  43. rapid weight gain
  44. rash
  45. redness of the skin
  46. runny or stuffy nose
  47. slow or fast heartbeat
  48. sneezing
  49. sore throat
  50. stomach pain
  51. sunken eyes
  52. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  53. thirst
  54. tingling of the hands or feet
  55. trouble breathing or swallowing
  56. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  57. unpleasant breath odor
  58. unusual bleeding or bruising
  59. unusual tiredness or weakness
  60. unusual weight gain or loss
  61. vomiting of blood
  62. wrinkled skin
  63. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  2. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  3. vomiting

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. arm or leg pain
  3. back pain
  4. belching
  5. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  6. change in taste
  7. confusion about identity, place, and time
  8. decreased appetite
  9. depression
  10. diarrhea
  11. difficulty with moving
  12. drooping upper eyelids
  13. dry eyes
  14. flushed, dry skin
  15. fruit-like breath odor
  16. heartburn
  17. hyperventilation
  18. increased hunger
  19. increased thirst
  20. increased urination
  21. indigestion
  22. irregular heartbeats
  23. irritability
  24. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  25. lack or loss of strength
  26. loss of taste
  27. muscle aches
  28. muscle pain or stiffness
  29. pain in the rectum
  30. restlessness
  31. shaking
  32. sleeplessness
  33. stomach discomfort or upset
  34. stomach bloating
  35. sweating
  36. tenderness in the stomach area
  37. trouble with sleeping
  38. unable to sleep
  39. unexplained weight loss
