Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. confusion
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. sweating
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Bloody, black, or tarry stools
  2. burning feeling while urinating
  3. chest pain or discomfort
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. defects in intelligence, short-term memory, learning ability, and attention
  7. difficult or painful urination
  8. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  9. fever
  10. frequent urination
  11. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  12. heartburn
  13. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  14. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  15. indigestion
  16. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  17. lower back or side pain
  18. pale skin
  19. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  20. severe and continuing nausea
  21. severe stomach pain, cramping, burning
  22. severe sunburn
  23. slow heartbeat
  24. sore throat
  25. swelling
  26. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  27. trouble breathing
  28. trouble walking
  29. trouble breathing
  30. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  31. unusual bleeding or bruising
  32. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  33. vomiting
  34. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. chest tightness
  3. diarrhea
  4. difficulty swallowing
  5. hives, itching, skin rash
  6. joint or muscle pain
  7. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  8. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  9. red, irritated eyes
  10. sore throat
  11. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Constipation

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. acne
  3. anxiety
  4. body aches or pain
  5. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  6. change or loss in taste
  7. confusion about identity, place, and time
  8. congestion
  9. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  10. discharge, excessive tearing
  11. dry throat
  12. false or unusual sense of well-being
  13. feeling of warmth
  14. hearing loss
  15. hoarseness
  16. increased sweating
  17. increased thirst
  18. muscle cramp or weakness
  19. oily skin
  20. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
  21. redness, pain, swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  22. runny nose
  23. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  24. sneezing
  25. stomach discomfort
  26. voice changes
  27. weight gain
