1. A Study to Evaluate Biomarkers of Fluoroquinolone-induced Mitochondrial Toxicity

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purposes of this study are to determine if patients treated with fluoroquinolone (FQ) antibiotics have depletion of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in buccal swab samples, and whether the degree of depletion correlates with the likelihood of developing FQ-associated toxicity.

   2nd arm - An additional group of patients will be enrolled if they previously received FQ antibiotics. appear to be symptomatic and have a previously collected muscle or nerve biopsy for clinical purposes available for this research study. 

2. A Study to Collect Tissue, Fluids, Blood and/or Fungal Samples in Patients with Pulmonary and Extrapulmonary Coccidioidomycosis

4. A Study to Evaluate the QuantiFERON-TB Gold-Plus Test for Blood Detection of Tuberculosis without Symptoms

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to evaluate the new QFT-Plus assay compared to the QFT-Gold assay and the tuberculin skin test results (as available) for the detection of tuberculosis without symptoms in high-risk patients.

                  

5. Molecular Analysis of Blood for the Detection of Cardiovascular Pathogens

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to test whether metagenomic shotgun sequencing can identify pathogens causing cardiovascular infections such as infective endocarditis or myocarditis.

6. COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic on Health and Healthcare

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to identify correlates of healthcare-seeking behavior in patients with ACS and CHF and its association with psychosocial and health outcomes.

7. Infection Database of Mechanical Circulatory Assist Device Recipients

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla.

   The purpose of this study is to learn more about incidence of infection complications in recipients of mechanical circulatory assist device recipients (MCAD).  Evaluate morbidity and mortality associated with infection complications in MCAD recipients.

8. Lymphoid Tissue Examination

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to study HIV infected individuals or others who have had another infection or inflammatory condition that may affect the content or structure of lymph nodes or may have none of these conditions and the sample will be used as a normal control.

9. A Study to Evaluate the Effectiveness and Safety of Remdesivir to Treat Coronavirus Disease 2019 in an Outpatient Setting

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effietiveness of remdesivir (RDV) in reducing the rate of of all-cause medically attended visits (MAVs; medical visits attended in person by the participant and a health care professional) or death in non-hospitalized participants with early stage coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and to evaluate the safety of RDV administered in an outpatient setting.

10. A Study to Evaluate the Safety of the SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination in Patients Waitlisted for Solid Organ Transplantation

    Jacksonville, Fla.

    The purpose of this study is to determine the safety of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in patients listed for solid organ transplantation, including heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas.
