The care may be inpatient or outpatient, depending on each individual's needs. Inborn errors of metabolism include urea cycle disorders and other disorders of amino acid metabolism, organic acidemias, fatty-acid oxidation disorders, congenital disorders of glycosylation, and others. To ensure you or your child receives the exact care needed, our team includes: Two board-certified biochemical geneticists. Multiple other geneticists. An experienced metabolic dietitian. A dedicated metabolic nurse. A genetic counselor with experience in metabolics and newborn screening. When you come to Mayo Clinic, specialists will perform an initial evaluation that includes a detailed history, physical exam, and diagnostic biochemical and genetics testing.
