Alexander Y. Shin, M.D., is an orthopedic hand and microvascular surgeon with specialty interest in complex upper extremity reconstruction. His clinical focus includes

  • Expertise in the evaluation and surgery of traumatic brachial plexus injuries (adults, children and babies), brachial plexus birth injuries as well as peripheral nerve injuries.
  • Expertise in the treatment and surgery of acute complex wrist fractures and dislocations as well as their sequelae.
  • Microsurgical reconstruction of complex bone and soft tissue loss.
  • Complex coordination of care and diagnosis of difficult upper extremity trauma.
  • Minimally invasive incisionless ultrasound guided carpal tunnel release.

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Shin is active in stem cell research and education, providing mentorship to resident and fellows. He authors expert content and published in high impact scientific journals.
