Biographical summary
Dr. Naiara S. Barbosa is board-certified in Dermatology and Mohs surgery by the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Barbosa received her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her Preliminary Internal Medicine year, Dermatology residency, and Mohs Surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
She subsequently served as the Director of Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of New Mexico, Department of Dermatology, from 2018
to 2021.
Dr. Barbosa joined the Department of Dermatology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, as a Senior Associate Consultant in December 2021.
Her clinical areas of expertise include diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers, procedural dermatology, and skin surveillance in immunosuppressed patients. Dr. Barbosa's academic interests include non-melanoma skin cancer research, skin cancer care and access for underserved populations, and diversity and inclusion advocacy. Dr. Barbosa is an active member of multiple dermatology societies and volunteers as a mentor for underrepresented minority students nationwide.
