Vishal N. Patel, M.D., Ph.D.

Vishal Patel, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified radiologist and clinical informaticist with subspecialty certification in neuroradiology.

Dr. Patel attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also earned a doctorate in biomedical engineering for his research advancing neural connectivity mapping with diffusion-weighted MRI. He also completed his diagnostic radiology training at UCLA, during which he served as Chief Resident. He subsequently joined the University of Southern California, first for neuroradiology fellowship, and then as a tenure-track faculty member and Medical Director of the Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute, before being recruited to Mayo Clinic in Florida.

Dr. Patel is active in the education of Mayo Clinic's radiology residents and neuroradiology fellows. He also continues to carry out radiology research in his areas of interest, which include ultra-high field (7 Tesla) MRI, machine learning, medical imaging informatics, and high angular resolution diffusion imaging.
