Biographical summary
May Elbanna, M.B.B.Ch., Ph.D., is a radiation oncologist in the department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic Rochester. She graduated from Mansoura University School of Medicine in Egypt. She then completed her PhD at Indiana University School of Medicine on a Fulbright Scholarship. Dr. Elbanna completed her radiation oncology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Elbanna specializes in treating breast tumors. She has a particular interest in maximizing patient centered care. She is also interested in global oncology and has collaborated with global leaders in radiation oncology in an effort to improve access to radiation treatments globally. Dr. Elbanna has expertise in utilizing the most advanced radiation techniques such as IMRT, SBRT, adaptive radiotherapy and proton therapy. Her major research interests involve optimizing personalized medicine which spans the integration of patient reported outcome measures in clinical trials as well as biomarker driven translational research.
