Marc Camacho, M.D.

I'm a native Floridian and grew up in Tampa. I attended the University of Miami and received my BS in Electrical Engineering. I then attended Boston University and received my MS in Biomedical Engineering. Before med school, I worked as a research assistant and collaborated on brain trauma research based at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center. I graduated with my MD from the University of South Florida and matched for internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Radiology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System in Richmond, VA. I stayed on at VCU for my first job, founding and leading the emergency radiology section in the department. I then accepted a position to do the same at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where I also served on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. Most recently, I was a partner, Division head, and Local Practice Board member of Radiology Associates of Florida (RAF), initially serving as head of emergency radiology at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. I then moved my clinical practice to Tampa General Hospital within RAF in 2020 and became the head of acute care radiology for RAF and TGH that same year. In January of 2023, I happily accepted an offer to join Mayo and am very excited to devote my effort to building an exemplary acute care radiology section here.

My academic interests are focused in acute care and emergency radiology. I am very active in the American Society of Emergency Radiology (ASER) where I hold leadership positions, am a councilor to the ACR for the Florida Radiological Society and serve on expert ACR Appropriateness Criteria panels for Gastrointestinal Radiology (I and II) and Major Trauma.
