Welcoming new ophthalmologist to Mayo Clinic Oct. 01, 2022 Ashlie A. Bernhisel, M.D., has joined Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Bernhisel is a subspecialty-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and refractive surgery. In addition to her surgical expertise in these areas, she performs complex cataract surgery. "We are delighted that Dr. Bernhisel has joined our department and the cornea service at Mayo Clinic," says Sophie J. Bakri, M.D., professor and chair of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. "She brings expertise in cornea and refractive surgery as well as complex cataract surgery. "Her passion for global health expands the reach of her care. About Dr. BernhiselDr. Bernhisel completed medical school at University of Utah School of Medicine and completed an ophthalmology residency and a fellowship in global health in the university's Department of Ophthalmology. She also completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at University of California - San Diego.
