Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloody urine
  5. blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  6. blurred vision
  7. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  8. chills
  9. confusion as to time, place, or person
  10. cough
  11. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  12. coughing up blood
  13. decreased urine output
  14. depression
  15. difficult, fast, noisy breathing
  16. dilated neck veins
  17. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  18. drowsiness
  19. dry mouth
  20. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  21. fever
  22. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  23. hallucinations
  24. headache
  25. hoarseness
  26. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  27. hostility
  28. increase in heart rate
  29. increased blood pressure
  30. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  31. increased sweating
  32. irritability
  33. loss of appetite
  34. loss of consciousness
  35. lower back or side pain
  36. mood or mental changes
  37. muscle, joint, or bone pain
  38. nausea
  39. nervousness
  40. nosebleeds
  41. painful or difficult urination
  42. pale skin
  43. pounding in the ears
  44. problems with speech or speaking
  45. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  46. rapid shallow breathing
  47. rapid weight gain
  48. red or black, tarry stools
  49. red or dark brown urine
  50. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  51. seizures
  52. shakiness and unsteady walk
  53. slow or fast heartbeat
  54. stiff neck
  55. sunken eyes
  56. swelling of the face, arms, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  57. trembling and shaking of hands
  58. trouble breathing
  59. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  60. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  61. vomiting
  62. weight gain

Less common

  1. Change in the amount of urine
  2. cloudy urine
  3. headache, sudden or severe
  4. stomach pain
  5. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over the affected area

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Anxiety
  2. decreased appetite
  3. diarrhea
  4. difficulty in moving
  5. joint pain
  6. muscle pain or stiffness
  7. pain in the arms or legs
  8. stuffy nose

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
