Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  4. bloody urine
  5. blurred vision
  6. body aches or pain
  7. chills
  8. confusion
  9. cough
  10. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  11. difficulty with breathing
  12. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  13. ear congestion
  14. fever
  15. full or bloated feeling
  16. headache
  17. increased thirst
  18. loss of appetite
  19. loss of voice
  20. lower back or side pain
  21. nasal congestion
  22. nausea
  23. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  24. pressure in the stomach
  25. rapid weight gain
  26. runny nose
  27. sneezing
  28. sore throat
  29. stomach pain
  30. sweating
  31. swelling of the abdominal or stomach area
  32. tingling of the hands or feet
  33. unusual bleeding or bruising
  34. unusual tiredness or weakness
  35. unusual weight gain or loss
  36. vomiting

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. dizziness
  4. dry mouth
  5. fainting
  6. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  7. feeling of warmth
  8. flushing or redness of the skin
  9. lightheadedness
  10. rapid breathing
  11. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  12. sunken eyes
  13. unusually warm skin
  14. wrinkled skin

Rare

  1. Difficulty with swallowing
  2. hives, itching, or skin rash
  3. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  4. tightness in the chest

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement
  2. difficulty with moving
  3. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  4. muscle pain or stiffness
  5. rash with flat lesions or small raised lesions on the skin

Less common

  1. Darkening of the skin
  2. decreased appetite
  3. dry skin
  4. skin rash, encrusted, scaly, and oozing
