Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. confusion
  3. decrease in amount of urine
  4. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  5. fever
  6. headache
  7. increase in vaginal bleeding
  8. muscle aches
  9. pale skin
  10. rapid weight gain
  11. sore throat
  12. stuffy or runny nose
  13. sweating
  14. swelling of the fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs
  15. tingling of the hands or feet
  16. trouble breathing
  17. unusual bleeding or bruising
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness
  19. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. chest pain or tightness
  4. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  5. cough
  6. cough producing mucus
  7. difficult, burning, painful urination
  8. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  9. feeling of warmth
  10. frequent urge to urinate
  11. hearing loss
  12. lower back or side pain
  13. redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest

Incidence not known

  1. Blindness
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. chest discomfort
  4. chills
  5. clay colored stools
  6. dark urine
  7. decreased appetite
  8. decreased vision
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficulty in speaking
  11. double vision
  12. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  13. inability to speak
  14. itching
  15. joint or muscle pain
  16. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  17. loss of appetite
  18. loss of memory
  19. nausea and vomiting
  20. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  21. painful or prolonged erection of the penis
  22. problems with memory
  23. red irritated eyes
  24. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  25. seizures
  26. slow speech
  27. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  28. stomach pain or tenderness
  29. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. difficulty in moving
  3. joint pain
  4. muscle aches, cramps, pains, or stiffness
  5. stomach pain
  6. swollen joints

Less common

  1. Arm or leg pain
  2. bloody nose
  3. face swelling
  4. heartburn
  5. indigestion
  6. shivering
  7. trouble sleeping
